The Greater Spokane Drum Corps Association Board of Directors would like to announce that Executive Director, Mike Koch, has stepped down. Mike has lead the corps since 2011. The Board has nothing but admiration and gratitude for Mike's dedication to the corps and it's members. Not only has Mike contributed his vision, time, leadership and financial support but he has mentored many Thunder members over the years. Mike has always been hands on, in the trenches, doing whatever it took to keep the corps running and on the road. We are more than grateful. Mike and his family moved to Austin, Texas this summer and we wish them all the best in their new home.
We would also like to take the opportunity to acknowledge the years of service given by Rich Harvey, who stepped down as treasurer last spring. Rich has served the corps in various positions since 2004 including parent, treasurer, and director. The leadership and support provided by Rich allowed the corps to provide a rich education to many members over the years. Rich and his wife relocated to Tacoma this summer.
Both Mike and Rich have gone above and beyond for Thunder. We salute you both.
Regarding the 2017 Season:
After much discussion and consideration, the Board of Directors has made the decision not to field a corps for 2017 but instead to take this year to put new leadership in place and to strengthen our financial position through sustainable funding and community sponsorship. We apologize to those veterans and potential members who were planning to audition for the 2017 season. We hope to offer you a stronger Thunder program in 2018.
